Aloha Keiki Camp is hiring counselors and office staff for summer 2009. If you love the beach, working with kids, and making money, this could be a great job for you!
Just to familiarize you with our program, Aloha Keiki Camp is a summer day camp based at Paradise Cove, Malibu serving boys and girls ages 4 through 7. We are the first beach camp to specialize in meeting the unique needs of younger kids, many of whom are experiencing the beach and ocean environment for the first time. Camp activities include boogie boarding, group sand games, ocean safety instruction and more.

To be considered for employment, you must meet the following minimum preliminary qualifications:
Be least 19 years old (although some mature 18 year olds may also be considered)
Have completed at least one year of college
Have a clean driving record
Pass a pre-employment drug test and participate in our ongoing random drug testing program
Be a strong swimmer
Have experience with working with kids
Love the beach!

If I work at Keiki Camp, where will I live?
Most of our staff lives within 30 minutes of camp. Since we're a day camp, not a sleepaway camp, we DO NOT provide housing for our staff. If you don't reside locally, you are still welcome to apply, but if you are hired for employment you will be responsible for securing housing on your own.
How will I get to work?
All staff is required to ride our buses and vans to and from camp each day. Some staff may be required to drive a small company-owned van to work. All vehicles are fully-insured with up to $5 Million in public liability insurance.
Where is the camp located?
Our business office is located in the Western San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, CA. The camp program takes place at Paradise Cove in Malibu. Approximate driving times from local universities are: USCB 80 minutes; USC 30 minutes; CSUN, UCLA, Pepperdine; Cal Lutheran 20 minutes.
How much money will I make?
The general salary range for working full-time for all 9 weeks of camp is between $2,700-$3,300. Your salary will depend on previous experience, school year completed, position(s) held and other factors.
What jobs are available? What will I be doing?
The above salary range includes the positions described below, however, please keep in mind that your job may include additional responsibilities beyond what is listed here including but not limited to driving a camp bus or van and other duties:
Camp Counselor/Lifeguards, where you'd have your own small group of kids to supervise and play with each day. You would also be trained and certified as a lifeguard which is a fundamental condition of employment for working here;
Beach Specialists, where you'd lead sand-based activities like arts & crafts and sports and games
Surfing Specialists, where you'd specialize in teaching surfing to our campers;
Jet Ski Specialists, where you'd supervise and operate our jet skiing program; and
Wakeboarding specialists, where'd you teach boating, tubing and wakeboarding to our campers (this position requires that you have your own boat.)
In addition to the positions listed above, we may also need office support. Office staff makes between $10 - $12 per hour or more depending on experience.

You must also attend, and successfully complete, all pre-camp training and orientation activities on Saturday, June 13 and Monday through Saturday, June 15 through 20 from 9 am to 5 pm each day.
Please also note that hiring preference is given to applicants who can work full-time for the entire summer from June 22 through August 21. But even if you can't work the whole time, please don't let this stop you from applying because we still may be able to work with you.
