Keiki Camp is an aquatic-themed summer day camp for boys and girls in Los Angeles. We're the first beach camp to specialize in meeting the unique day camping needs of younger kids, many of whom are experiencing the beach and ocean environment for the first time. Camp activities include boogie boarding and surfing instruction, group sand games, ocean safety lessons and more. We sometimes refer to Keiki Camp as "Aloha" Keiki Camp" since Keiki Camp is run by Aloha Beach Camp.
What is Aloha Beach Camp?
Aloha Beach Camp operates the Keiki Camp program. In addition to Keiki Camp, Aloha Beach Camp operates another day camp called Aloha High Action Camp, an exciting day camp program for older kids who love the beach and who've outgrown the typical day camp scene. The High Action camp is an entirely different camp and takes place at a entirely different location so our younger Keiki campers and older High Action campers don't interact with each other.
What is "Day-by-Day Enrollment?"
Day-by-day enrollment allows you to send your child to camp on a day-by-day basis whenever you want. You don't need to conform to rigid prearranged session schedules like you do at other camps. This gives you complete flexibility in planning for camp and lets you take control of your own camp schedule. Now you can come and go to camp whenever you want -- it's your call!
Where is the camp located?
Keiki Camp takes place at beautiful Paradise Cove in Malibu, an ideal location for younger kids because it's a safe, private, contained and secure beach environment with clean water, gentle surf and virtually nobody else nearby.
What's the ratio of kids to counselors?
The ratio never exceeds 3:1 in the water or 5:1 on the sand. These low ratios mean your child will enjoy a safe and fun camp experience and establish wonderful friendships with other kids and our counselors!
How much does it cost? What's included?
Camp tuition ranges between $95 and $107 per day depending on when you sign up. The lower rates are available with our Early Bird Discounts. Your tuition includes daily transportation to and from camp, plus a full day of beach activities we know your child will love!
There is an additional $50 registration fee per camper, which includes one camp t-shirt and one camp rash guard. We also highly recommend that you purchase the money-saving Enrollment Protection Plan for only $50 more so that you can avoid costly enrollment change fees. The Enrollment Protection Plan allows you to make FREE unlimited changes to your child's schedule all summer, otherwise each change you make will cost $35. If you'd like to purchase the Enrollment Protection Plan, please check the appropriate box on your enrollment form.
Daily transportation, on safety-equipped, fully insured buses and vans is provided from your area. To ensure short rides and reliable schedules, we use convenient meeting points. Morning pick-up is between 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM, and afternoon drop-off is between 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM (you will receive a specific pick- up and drop off time the week before your child starts camp). You can choose your meeting point when you sign up for camp. Driving duties are typically handled by professional school bus drivers, and sometimes by Aloha Beach Camp counselors. Each vehicle usually has an additional staff member on board for extra safety and supervision. Visit our transportation page to learn more.
Can I drive my child to camp?
You are welcome to do so. However, please understand that the official camp day starts and ends on the bus where we play games, sing songs, and make lots of friends! Nearly 100% of our enrolled campers ride the bus to and from camp, and many say it's the best part of their camp day! Accordingly, we do not recommend driving your child to camp, but if you still feel strongly about doing so just let us know so we can give you pick-up and drop-off details and other specifics about where to meet us.
I have more questions. What should I do?
There are many ways to reach us -- we're looking forward to hearing from you!
What if we can't meet the 5-day minimum enrollment?
Kids who attend at least 5 days of camp or more will derive the most benefit from the Keiki Camp experience. But if you are unable to attend at least 5 days, please let us know because we still may be able to accommodate you.
Who are the counselors, and what are their qualifications?
Our counselors are chosen for their ability to provide leadership to kids, plus serve as positive role models.
Each must pass a rigorous multi-phase interview process, including drug testing and a criminal background check. They're typically teachers or college students, at least 19 years old, trained lifeguards, and CPR and First Aid certified. Our counselors were featured in the Los Angeles Times for their quality and commitment.
